Finis

Went to the DMV on Welton today to get new plates for my car. Had the insurance papers matching my new assigned ID and the emissions test record proving that I was air worthy.

"Is this a renewal or a new purchase?", the DMV employee said.
"Neither. My car was stolen and they took the VIN plate. Which means that I had to get a Colorado Assigned ID. Then..."
"Then get everything else."
"Right."
The clerk, Kate (according to the name plate) then proceeded to enter data in the computer. I wrote a check for 32.69 payable to the Manager of Revenue, and Kate handed me my plates.
"Thanks. Have a good one," I said.
"Thanks. I will be in about an hour and a half." (It was close to the end of business on Friday.)

I walked out into the still-too-hot-for-me August 25 weather in Five Points Denver, got in my car and drove home. Happy to be done with this un-righteous pain in the ass.

New Place

After almost 5 years living in the old place, I got a new one. It's in Denver too, but it's bigger, nicer, and cooler (literally). 4.5 Mile commute to work, and decent bus access to Downtown.
Neighborhood isn't as pedestrian friendly. But, most of the Metro area is worse.
Took a month or so of looking at different neighborhoods and apartments to find this place.
(One thing to note though. In some ways Downtown is quieter. The new neighborhood has barking dogs, and car alarms that weren't such a pain at the old place. One culero's alarm has been going of sporadically all day. I called the managment and they said to call the police non-emergency line. They would be able to handle it. I called them, got a machine. Left a message.... As far as the dogs go, I just don't get why people who live in apartments get them. They go to work and leave their dog out on the patio and it barks whenever someone or someone and their dog walks by. Nice life. )
