RIP - Duffy's.

Duffy's, Denver landmark since before pretty much anyone who currently lives in Denver can recall, closes on 11/30/2006.
I used to live 3 blocks from the place. It had a 2 for 1 happy hour, the bartenders, wore green bow ties and were all cool in the old school way.
Best place in town if you ask me. It was right downtown and everyone went there, from financial analysts who worked in the neighboring sky scrapers, to the bartenders, waitresses and other members of the service industry from the area.
I'm not sure what the specific reason is. The brothers who own the place, the Lombardi's were at or past retirement age and got bought out for the building. I suspect they made out pretty well. I don't know if or how much business has fallen off in the past few years. LoDo is probably the more happening end of town now, and there are other new bars getting a lot of the new business I guess.
Whatever the reason, it's real loss for Denver. Coolest place in town.
