The Interview Process

Have been reading about the confirmation process of Mr. Robert(s?) the possible next supreme court head honcho. The questions they are asking him seem kind of BS to me. He is not answering whether he will vote against this or that, for reasons they all usually don't. So we have kind of an act going on. I have been on both sides of the process now. For less serious engagements I admit, but there is always some BS involved. Alot of it comes down to whether someone is likeable, or other non-technical reasons. Not everyone wants to admit that though. So you get some out there questions. What the hell, you take an SAT to get into college, just give the judges something like that. Thats about as fair and honest as it is going to get. How do you judge whether to hire a plumber or a mechanic? Has he/she done this before? Are they familiar with your set-up? Sure, Judges are different, but if you don't have the criteria ahead of time, just admit you are winging it. Seems reasonable, but then again, no one ever answers yes or no questions yes/no/i dont know directly either....
