Top 80s Songs

Our Lips Are Sealed - The GoGos / Fun Boy Three
Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners
New Years Day - U2
Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran
Back on the Chain Gang - The Pretenders
Come Dancing - The Kinks
Just Like Heaven - The Cure
She Sells Sanctuary - The Cult
How Soon Is Now - The Smiths
Black Coffee in Bed - Squeeze

No particular order. But, I would say Our Lips are Sealed and Come on Eileen are sort of definitive 80's songs for me.

With Our Lips are Sealed, The GoGos did the most popular version in my neck of the woods but The Fun Boy Three version is also super tasty. Check it out on youtube (the saviour of music videos).

Aside from being awesome. I notice that they are largely from the era where MTV played music videos and I was around 12 or in 8th grade. Also note they are largely British and most band names start with the word 'The' (just like 'The Beatles').

Whatever. Great stuff.

FWIW, here's VH1's version.

How Do You Sleep at Night?

Two assholes Bouldarians, Richard McLean (a former district court judge and former Boulder mayor) and Edith Stevens his female, lawyer, sidekick, claim they have been using their neighbors backyard for so long that they now own it. Using some legal tool called Adverse Possession, they claimed the rights to the property of Don and Susie Kirlin. They want it, don't want to pay for it and think they should have it cause they claim they've been using it for over 18 years (a legal arbitrary limit).

They apparently won their case in court, but the Kirlin's are disputing the case. In the original case, the McLean and Stevens used a trail across the property, called 'Edie's path' (too cute guys), as proof that they had been using the property a long, long time. Now the Kirlin's are claiming that the trail is new and that they have photographic proof. The lawyer for Mclean and 'Edie' (sounds like a 70's sitcom) are saying that legally, so what, they should have brought this up the first time.

Nicely done. But there's more. They are upset that other people have a problem with this and outraged that anyone would think they fabricated this trail of evidence, "I became an attorney because I believe in the law," Stevens said, choking up as she spoke. "I tried cases and I always instructed my witnesses to tell the truth. I would not go into a courtroom and lie. Any suggestion we had plotted to seize the land is just false."

Why would anyone think that? Oh, except that you trespassed on your neighbor's property and then claim you own it.

Like the title says, How Do You Sleep at Night?

New Guy

One great thing about Obama that can't be said about McCain or Hillary is that Obama had to make his own road. He was not married to a former Pres, like Hillary, he was not a child of an Admiral who went into the Navy, like McCain. He made his own way and he deserves credit for that.

For those who think connections are important, I will refer you to G.W.Bush. End of discussion.
